It’s a hard pill to swallow’: Law enforcement recruits dying during training



Recruits hoping to work in law enforcement are dying during training. Nearly 30 recruits died across the country in the past decade, according to an Associated Press investigation. And of those cases of recruit deaths across the U.S., at least 6 involved sickle cell.  In some cases, autopsy reports were not available or not performed.  According to WSB TV sources, some of the deceased were not tested for sickle cell trait, and there is evidence of 1 death in Georgia that involved sickle cell. Channel 2’s Michael Seiden looked into whether enough is being done to keep recruits safe.
